Dear Rahla;
As the Harlem Globetrotters move toward the next Century,
we have been finding new young talent that are extraordinary athletes. The
Globetrotters are known for our incredible skill and prowess on the
basketball court, coupled with a unique sense of humor and physical comedy
that has been entertaining audiences for seventy years. You were hired to
help develop and enhance the performance skills of our new Showmen,
Michael Wilson and Elmer Martin. Having wonderful, humorous off-court
personalities in one thing, but being funny in front of thousands of
spectators is something else. I was very pleased to hear that you designed
a custom training tailored for our special needs.
I will never forget walking into the Phoenix Union High
School and seeing our two, young professional basketball players singing
the Power of Play theme song with complete abandon, as if they were the
stars in a hit Broadway musical! Your seminar was just what was needed to
loosen them up and break open their natural creativity.
Since your weeklong seminar concluded, Michael and
Elmer have made great strides in their on-court performances as Showmen.
You seem to have truly found a way to bring out the funny, spontaneous,
yet genuine spark of humor these players possess.
I look forward to meeting with you when our season is
over to discuss future plans.
Thank you for your fine work.
Sincerely,
Mannie Jackson
